Information session on Australian Permanent Residency (PR)

This goes out to those of you who may decide to stay back in Australia after your bachelors degree or otherwise upon graduating from university. At most times, local companies would prefer their future employees to obtain a permanent residency (PR) status in Australia.
Especially with the current economy crisis that has been lingering the business world, an employee’s PR status may be an important factor in resisting employee redundancy.

UPDATE: An Australian Football Experience [5th August]

Malaysians at Caulfield has got some extra information that might interest you in joining the upcoming Footy event happening this 5th August!

*bear in mind that this is actually a two day event*

Apart from:

  • attending the coaching and training sessions (Footy Clinic) On the 5th August;
  • getting official tickets to the MCG game on the 7th August;
  • having the chance to get autographs and photo sessions with the Carlton Club players;
  • free FOOD;

The Carlton Football Club would be giving out GOODIE BAGS for everyone that attends the Footy Clinic too!

the Goodie Bag includes an official t-shirt, the club scarf and also a hat to wear to the MCG game that you are to attend should you go for the Footy clinic on the 5th of August!

An Australian Football Experience [5th August]

As planned, Malaysians at Caulfield are teaming up with MONASH SPORTS to give you this opportunity to experience the unique Australian sport called Footy!

MONASH SPORTS on the other hand is collaborating with Carlton Football Club to host a 2 day event of  “theory, coaching and ‘have a go’ ” session just for you!

So what’s in it for you to join this event?

  • Enhance your Monash experience by socialising with other International students from other Monash campuses
  • Attend a real ‘Footy game’ at the MCG, and support Carlton Football Club on the 7th of August
  • Receive autographs and free gifts from the Elite famous players
  • Learn about the great Australian game of ‘Footy’ (Australian Football League)
  • Understand why football is part of Melbourne and Australian culture
  • Have a fun day of Australian activities with other International Students
  • Receive coaching and demonstrations from the elite Carlton Football players

Kuam’s Battle of the Bands in Melbourne!

The awaited KUAM event returns this year with much bigger, better performances.

This year’s Muzika Musim Salju will be held on the 26th of July 2009 @ Arrow on Swanston.

There will be 3 categories available, and details are as follows:

Band fees : $50 [members], $60 [non-members]

Acoustics : $30 [members], $40 [non-members]

Minus-ones : $10 [members], $15 [non-members]

1) Each act would be around 10-15minutes with 5minutes setting up

2) It is a competition and there will be a winner from each category. Winners from each categories will be performing for the Malam Gemilang event which is KUAM’s last event for the year.

3) Judges will be selected from each MSO (Malaysian Student Organization), which means that this event is not just your average nonchalant event!

4) We’ve prepared a drum set, amps for 2 guitars, a base amp, an electronic piano and 3 mics. So, just come along, plug in your guitars and rock away~

Testimonial Australia

This year The Malaysian Student Department (MSDA) together with MASCA National will be will be introducing a new award known as Testimonial Australia. The award will be awarded to Malaysian Students studying in Australia to recognize their excellent achievement academically and well as their contribution in leadership capacity or in other community roles.

WHY SHOULD YOU APPLY!

The award is expected not only to recognize your achievement as students but it to assist you by providing you with a certificate which will be recognized amongst Malaysian as well as Australian employers. Overall students with this award would have a significantly higher advantage when entering the job market upon graduating.

WHAT’S THE AWARD’S VALUE ?

It will be stressed here that this award will be prestigious as it will be recognized by the Malaysian Student Department (MSD) and will be presented to the selected student by the guest of honour during NCG 2009. In addition there will be only a few students throughout Australia that will be receiving this award making it furthermore prestigious The award itself will have two standards (i.e Gold and Silver). The Gold recipient will be awarded a trophy and a certificate from MSDA listing your accomplishments. The Silver award winners will recieve the only the certificate listing your accomplishments.

Application for this award is free and a special committee together with MSDA will review each application to decide the award winners. ‘With Love, Down Under – Charity Gig’ is a one night stage event that serves to collect funds to sponsor an orphanage organization, Pertubuhan Penyayang Raudah. ‘With Love, Down Under’ is organized by a group of Malaysian students currently studying in Australia, under the name of the Kelab UMNO New South Wales (KUNSW). This event is also collaboration with Malaysian Students Organisation (MSO) and other Kelab UMNO Luar Negara (KULN) in Australia.

There’ll also be battle of the bands between various Malaysian-led student bands in Australia.

So, what are you waiting for? Let’s all do some good deeds while having lots of fun!
